Steve and I met in kindergarten. I don’t remember, but Steve does. He insists that I was his elementary school crush. I figured it was just a line to spark my interest, I suppose it worked! It all started at a mutual friend’s house. Someone made a comment on an owl necklace I was wearing and I informed them that I got it at one of my favorite local thrift stores. I went on to say that shopping for and finding cute old stuff was one of my favorite weekend activities. Cue the Italian kid at the table… Steve excitedly told me that he liked doing stuff like that too, he just couldn’t find anyone to go with him. We traded numbers and the next Saturday morning he accompanied me on my Vero Beach thrift store route. On one of our other first dates Steve took me to an old abandoned diesel plant… I thought it was the coolest place in the entire world. We took our cameras, even a polaroid one… we sat, talked, kissed, climbed on the diesel engine like we were in kindergarten again.
We hadn’t been dating that long when we were both pretty sure that we wanted it to be permanent. Fast forward 14 months… Steve asked me to marry him! And here we are today, about to celebrate our 2nd anniversary and planning a wedding for May 23, 2009. š
